PREMIER LEAGUE LIVE: All the action from today's top flight clashes

22 November 2009 18:12
BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE STOKE 1 PORTSMOUTH 0TOTTENHAM 9 WIGAN 1 (FT)BOLTON 0 BLACKBURN 2 (FT)6.01: So that's all for Sunday's action - Managerless Blackburn have won on the road for the first time this season, Kevin-Prince Boateng missed a penalty as Portsmouth lost at Stoke after Ricardo Fuller's strike but the headlines go to Jermain Defoe today who bagged five as Spurs hit Wigan for nine. That's another 34 goals in the Premier League this weekend - we are spoilt! [LNB]5.51: FULL TIME - No real threat on the Stoke goal in the dying seconds as Portsmouth seemed resigned to their fate. Pompey remain stuck at the bottom, four points off safety, Stoke move up into ninth on 19 points. [LNB]5.48: We'll have three minutes added on at the Britannia Stadium.[LNB]5.43: Wilkinson goes on a run that is the personification of barn-storming - he covers 70-odd yards and his shot goes just over. Deserved a goal. [LNB]5.40: You have to feel for Tuncay who was on the touchline, primed to come on when Fuller scored his goal, he then had to go and put his tracksuit back on and sit back on the bench. He's not having the best of luck since moving from Middlesbrough. Fear not - he's on now.[LNB]5.38: Mullins is replaced by Webber. [LNB]5.36: That was a really fine goal - a one-touch build-up between Whitehead and Etherington and Fuller curled the ball in to the right-hand corner, just out of Ashdown's reach. [LNB]5.32: GOAL! Fuller hammers Stoke into the lead to round off a wonderful move. [LNB] Fuller joy: Stoke celebrate the Jamaican's fine strike [LNB]5.32: Piquionne replaces Dindane.[LNB]5.31: Boateng shimmies through the Stoke midfield  and drives from around 20-yards but, unsurprisingly, his drive goes well wide. [LNB]5.26: Etherington and Ben-Haim exchange some handbags and Jamie O'Hara has another from distance saved by Sorensen. Ever eaten stale bread? This game is the visual version.[LNB]5.20: Great chance for Dindane. Brown played in a neat ball and the Ivorian swivelled and shot - but just wide. [LNB]5.16: Double swap for the Potters - Beattie and Diao come off - Lawrence and Sidibe are on. [LNB]5.15: So Jermain Defoe has joined an elite group of players to have scored five in a Premier League game - Andy Cole and Alan Shearer were the others BUT two of Shearer's were penalties.[LNB]5.11: Jamie O'Hara fires a drive to Sorensen's right from 25-yards out that needed pushing around the post. A decent-looking effort but he would have been lucky to beat the 'keeper from there.[LNB] Not so Princely: Boateng's penalty is easily saved by Sorensen[LNB]5.09: A Portsmouth corner is followed by a Stoke free-kick, just outside the box that drifts out harmlessly. That's all I'm afraid. [LNB]5.03: The second half starts between Stoke and Pompey - I'd quite like to see ten goals in this game too. Thanks. [LNB]4.59: Right - at the Britannia the second half is about to get underway  - Kevin Prince Boateng's penalty early on was woefully lacking in power and easily saved - if Pompey have any real ambition of dragging themselves off the bottom of the table they really need to take those chances. [LNB]4.56: FULL TIME at White Hart Lane and Tottenham have equalled the Premier League scoring record by beating Wigan 9-1. Cue much excitement and Spurs fans making wild statements about league titles. [LNB] Five-alive: Defoe celebrates another strike against hapless Wigan[LNB]4.55: GOAL! It's now NINE for Spurs. Kranjcar gets in on the act, hammering home after wandering into the box unmarked. Referee - stop it now, it's becoming embarrassing for Wigan. [LNB]4.50: In other news - it's half time at the Britannia. [LNB]4.48: GOALS! Tottenham have scored EIGHT against Wigan. Defoe has five after being played through by Kranjcar and then David Bentley, who had come on for Lennon hit a 25-yard free-kick that struck the post and Kirkland's head before finally settling in the net.[LNB] Goal-fest: Lennon adds to Tottenham's huge total against Wigan[LNB]4.43: Dean Whitehead has gone in the book for a nasty-looking challenge on Dindane and moments later Hreidarsson bumps into Beattie who, to put bluntly, made a right meal of it., no card, though. [LNB]4.38: Not great fare in the match between Stoke and Pompey. Matthew Etherington has wasted a couple of chances when he found himself in decent positions and Hayden Mullins has thumped a shot just wide. Tis all I have for you, I'm afraid. [LNB]4.32: Believe it or not there  is actually a game going on at the Britannia! The two goal-shy sides and playing the game at a frenetic pace but we haven't been treated to any clear-cut opportunities. Stoke are on top, though. [LNB]4.30: GOAL! It's now FOUR for Defoe. Played in by Corluka, he was one-on-one with Kirkland and drove home in off the post. [LNB] Jermain man: The Spurs players mob Defoe on completing his hat-trick[LNB]4.26: GOAL! Aaron  Lennon gets in on the act after setting up three of the Spurs goals he has nabbed one himself. Finding space on the right he hammered low past  Kirkland - there's still 25 minutes left there, too![LNB]4.21: Two of Defoe's goals were supplied by Aaron Lennon and the other by Wilson Palacios for the diminutive striker's second hat-trick of the season. [LNB]4.18: GOALS! Crikey! Over at the Lane Jermain Defoe has nabbed a hat-trick in seven minutes to put the game out of Wigan's grasp. Are you watching Mr Capello? Paul Scharner's strike for the visitors was controversial as there looked to be a touch of the Thierry Henry's about it (he handled it!). [LNB] Doubling up: Jermain Defoe's strike makes it 2-0 at White Hart Lane[LNB]4.14: Is anyone else really impressed at the gusto with which the Stoke fans sing Delilah? OK, just me, then but the home fans have been buoyed by that penalty save and they [LNB]4.11: Over at Tottenham, Lennon has started the second half as he finished the first - terrorising Erik Edman. On one foray down the wing he crossed for Defoe who couldn't keep his effort down and it flew just over the bar. [LNB]4.07: MISSED! Boateng with a woeful penalty rolled to Sorensen's left and the 'keeper made an easy save. [LNB]4.06: PENALTY! Delap is penalised for a high swinging boot in the general direction of Dindane's nose. Boateng to take it. [LNB]4.05: A tentative start from both sides - edgy? Probably not but neither side has taken charge. [LNB]4.01: We're underway at the Britannia. [LNB] Fighting it out: Diao and Boateng battle for the ball at the Britannia[LNB]3.59: Stoke: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Shawcross, Huth, Collins, Delap, Diao, Whitehead, Etherington, Beattie, Fuller. Subs: Simonsen, Higginbotham, Whelan, Lawrence, Sidibe, Pugh, Sanli.Portsmouth: Ashdown, Ben-Haim, Kaboul, Wilson, Hreidarsson, Brown, Mullins, O'Hara, Boateng, Kanu, Dindane. Subs: Niemi, Piquionne, Williamson, Vanden Borre, Webber, Smith, Hughes.[LNB]3.52: Full-back Andy Wilkinson returns to Stoke's starting line-up as manager Tony Pulis was forced into making a change in defence for the visit of bottom sidePortsmouth. [LNB]With Abdoulaye Faye suspended after his sending-off in the defeat at Hull last time out Robert Huth moves into the centre to allow Wilkinson to slot in on the right.[LNB]The only other change is in midfield with Salif Diao replacing Glenn Whelan, who was only fit enough for the bench after a sustaining a groin problem playing for the Republic of Ireland.[LNB]Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has made four changes from the side which lost 3-1 atBlackburn at fortnight ago.[LNB]Defender Hermann Hreidarsson, midfielder Hayden Mullins and Kanu all returnedat the expense of Anthony Vanden Borre, Aaron Mokoena and Frederic Piquionne and, trotting out for his warm-up, James pulled his calf muscle so misses out. .[LNB]3.50: Right, we're turning our focus to the Britannia Stadium where the early news is bad for Pompey who will be without David James who injured himself during the warm up. Teams in just a moment. [LNB]3.41: Heurelho Gomes almost gifts Wigan an equalizer - his throw went staright to Jason Scotland  but the Brazilian 'keeper saved well to redeem himself. Defoe should have then doubled Spurs' lead but was denied by the woodwork. [LNB]3.31: That's all from the Reebok, however, over at White Hart Lane Tom Huddlestone has gone just inches wide with a 25-yard drive. [LNB]3.28: A thoroughly deserved victory for a managerless Blackburn who created much the better chances against a lacklustre Bolton side. Boos rang around the ground on the whistle as the home fans vent their anger at Gary Megson and see their side remain rooted in the bottom three, third bottom in fact - Rovers move up to 11th. [LNB]3.25: FULLTIME at the Reebok - Rovers win on the road for the first time this season![LNB] Where were you? Ricketts and Jaaskelainen deny being at fault for the own goal[LNB]3.24: Over at White Hart Lane it's all Spurs. Defoe and Crouch have gone close and Aaron Lennon is giving former Spurs man Erik Edman a torrid time down the wing. Lennon has gone close, too. [LNB]3.21: You know you're having a bad day when the you take a throw in that slips out of your hands, goes twenty feet up and two feet forward. Embarrassing stuff for Samuel. [LNB]3.19: We'll have four minutes added on at the Reebok. [LNB]3.16: Jacobsen clears off the line! Nelsen mistimed a header and let Klasnic in around the back but the big Dane cleared as the  ball was prodded towards an empty net. [LNB]3.13: Blackburn replace Dunn with Grella - Bolton are making a good fist of this but they haven't managed a clear-cut opportunity. Gary Megson cuts a very lonely figure on the touchline. [LNB]3.08: GOAL! Tottenham have taken an early lead against Wigan and it's Peter Crouch who has headed them in front. Good work from Lennon who crossed for the lofty striker to stoop and head home.[LNB] Getting ahead: Crouch nods Tottenham into an early lead against Wigan[LNB]3.05: Great save from Jaaskelainen. Emerton weaved his way into the box from the right and tried to guide the ball into the corner but a firm palm sent it away. [LNB]3.02: GOAL! Ricketts own goal. And it's a real comedy one. A lofted pass from Emerton was heading harmlessly towards Jaaskelainen who had ventured just out side his box but Ricketts was unaware and nodded the ball past his stranded 'keeper. Surely there should have been a name on that ball?[LNB]2.59: Changes from both sides - It's Klasnic Lee Chung-Yong, and Mark Davies ON - Elmander, Gardner and McCann OFF. For Rovers McCarthy  is on for Di Santo.  [LNB]2.53: Off the line! By McCann - again! Nelsen rose above Davies and Roberts flicked on but McCann was there to nod clear. Get that man a bonus![LNB] Off the line: McCann heads clear after Roberts effort on goal[LNB]2.52: Great chance for Di Santo! Played neatly through by Dunn but Jaaskelainen stayed big to keep the ball out. Corner. [LNB]2.48: Whisper it quietly but this has become quite an entertaining game! Unrecognisable from the first half. [LNB]2.43: Now it's Kevin Davies' turn to waste a fine opportunity. Samuel's cross flew into the box but Chimbonda declined to head it away but Davies's header bounced in front of Robinson and flew wide. [LNB]2.39: Gardner wastes a glorious chance. Ricketts broke down the left and cut back but Gardner mistimed his effort and it hit his standing foot - a little embarrassing. [LNB]2.37: Off the line! Diouf slams the ball goalwards and Jaaskelainen was beaten but McCann was stationed on the post and headed over the bar. Great clearance. [LNB]2.35: No changes to either side and we're back underway at the Reebok. [LNB] Bolton's best: Gardner has a strike on goal as Chimbonda closes him down[LNB]2.31: So Robbie Keane is on the bench for the clash against Wigan at White Hart Lane following his World Cup efforts with Republic of Ireland in midweek.[LNB]Spurs welcome back Aaron Lennon after the winger's ankle injury, replacing Jermaine Jenas, while Michael Dawson was drafted in because Ledley King was out with a hamstring problem.[LNB]Niko Kranjcar was also recalled, while midfielder Wilson Palacios made hisfirst appearance against the club he left in January.[LNB]Wigan boss Roberto Martinez named the team that drew against Fulham last time out.[LNB]2.30: Over at White Hart Lane the teams have been announced.  Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, Dawson, Woodgate, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Huddlestone, Palacios, Kranjcar, Defoe, Crouch. Subs: Alnwick, Hutton, Bentley, Jenas, Pavlyuchenko, Keane, Bassong. Wigan: Kirkland, Melchiot, Bramble, Boyce, Edman, Thomas, Diame, N'Zogbia, Scharner, Rodallega, Scotland. Subs: Pollitt, Cho, Koumas, Gomez, Sinclair, Kapo, Figueroa. [LNB]2.25: HALF TIME. A drab opening half hour was followed by a lively last 15 minutes after Dunn had - thankfully - broken the deadlock. Bolton have shown plenty of ambition but as it stands, Blackburn are in real danger of actually winning an away game![LNB]2.20: Mike Dean blows his whistle and so that'll be half time. [LNB] Great goal: Dunn asks for Mike Dean's opinion on his first-half strike[LNB]2.19: Great chance for Taylor! Totally unmarked at the near post he got a firm head on the ball when it needed just a soft touch to guide it in. A wonderful opportunity to level things just before the break. [LNB]2.18: We'll have three minutes added on at the end of this half. [LNB]2.17: Muamba is a lucky boy to remain on the pitch after raising his hands in a  clash with David Dunn. Both players receive yellow cards for what is known in footballing circles as 'handbags.' [LNB]2.13: Elmander breaks down the wing, looks up, and plays a fantastic ball in the box to ... no one. Not a single white shirt within 10 yards of the box. [LNB]2.08: Givet picked up a knock early in the game and has failed to shake it off so Jacobsen enters the fray. Chimbonda has moved over to centre back, Jacobsen goes to the right.[LNB]2.03: That's really tough on Bolton who had almost taken the lead with Taylor's freekick but plaudits must go to Robinson who released quickly to Di Santo - the link up with Roberts was neat but Dunn's finish was really classy. [LNB]2.00: GOAL! David Dunn  puts Rovers ahead with a delightful finish.[LNB] Fine finish: Dunn sweeps the ball past the Bolton 'keeper to put Rovers in front[LNB]1.59: Taylor hits the crossbar! His freekick was deflected by Nelsen and had left Robinson no chance. [LNB]1.57: In the context of this rather drab game, the following actually rates as  a highlight  - Taylor crossed for Gardner but the delivery was too high. Yep, it's that kinda game. [LNB]1.52: Cahill clears off the line! David Dunn muscles Cahill off the ball and headed goalwards over Jaaskelainen but the centre back cleared just in time. Some action at last! [LNB]1.45: Penalty? Kevin Davies is fuming as Mike Dean waves away his appeals after Gael Givet's sliding challenge saw his hand roll over the ball. That would have been very harsh - Givet may be French but that was no Thierry Henry moment. [LNB]1.42: Bolton show some desire for the first time this afternoon but their swift counter-attack ends with Taylor's floated cross drifting harmlessly out. [LNB]1.37: All a little messy so far - A game defined by it's lack of quality. Having said that Dunn and Di Santo have both had drives from distance deflected out for corners - Rovers have lost ten on the bounce away from home. Not what you'd call sparkling form![LNB]1.31: We're underway - can a  managerless Blackburn do the unthinkable - and win an away game? [LNB] Kicking out: Samba clashes with Davies at the Reebok[LNB]1.30: The teams are out at the Reebok - we'll have football for you in just a moment! Excellent. [LNB]1.28: So Bolton manager Gary Megson made four changes to his side for the derby clash with Blackburn. Megson  has decided to shake up his team following the 5-1 thumping by Aston Villa in their last match before the recent international break.[LNB]Jlloyd Samuel and Andy O'Brien returned to the defence while Gavin McCann and Johan Elmander were also included.[LNB]With Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce preparing to have heart surgery, hisassistant Neil McDonald takes charge.[LNB]They have made one change to the side that beat Portsmouth with Jason Robertscoming in for Morten Gamst Pedersen.[LNB]1.25: The team at the Reebok are in ... Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Ricketts, Cahill, Andrew O'Brien, Samuel, Taylor, Muamba, McCann, Gardner, Elmander, Kevin Davies. Subs: Al Habsi, Knight, Steinsson, Mark Davies, Klasnic, Lee, Basham.Blackburn: Robinson, Chimbonda, Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Dunn, Nzonzi, Emerton, Diouf, Di Santo, Roberts. Subs: Brown, Jacobsen, McCarthy, Grella, Andrews, Kalinic, Salgado.[LNB]1.15pm: Good afternoon and welcome to Sportsmail's coverage off all today's Barclays Premier League clashes. [LNB]Our main focus will be at the Reebok and then the Britannia stadium but we'll keep you up to date with all the action from White Hart Lane as well. [LNB]The weather is miserable but we're hoping the north west derby can bring some sunshine to a rather drab Sunday afternoon as Blackburn Rovers travel to Bolton without their manager Sam Allardyce who is preparing to have heart surgery. [LNB]I'll have all the team news from the Bolton and Blackburn clash plus the latest ahead of the clashes between Stoke and Pompey, Spurs and Wigan as I get it.
