Pompey still chasing Kalinic

Portsmouth boss Paul Hart is refusing to accept defeat in his pursuit of Hajduk Split star Nikola Kalinic. Pompey appeared to be closing in on the Croatia international last week, only for a proposed move to break down. That agreement was said to have stalled after Portsmouth asked for the transfer fee involved to be paid over the course of three years. Unwilling to accept such terms, Hajduk Split promptly pulled the plug on any possible agreement. Blackburn and Porto are now believed to have joined the race for the 21-year-old striker, with Kalinic reported to be in talks with the Portuguese outfit. Hart, though, insists Portsmouth remain in the hunt and has not ruled out the prospect of the youngster arriving at Fratton Park this summer. "We have not given up," he said.
