Full-back Finnan has been handed an initial 12-month contract with the option of a further extension after his contract with Spanish side Espanyol was terminated by mutual consent. And defensive midfielder Mokoena has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal following his departure from Ewood Park at the end of last season. The duo represent the first signings for new manager Paul Hart, who has been handed the post on a permanent basis after initially being appointed in an interim capacity for the second half of the previous term. Finnan will help fill the void left by Glen Johnson's move to Liverpool, while South Africa skipper Mokoena will provide some much-needed steel in the centre of midfield. Hart told the club's official website: "It whetted my appetite to think that we could get a player of Steve's calibre here. He's really looking forward to coming here and we're looking forward to seeing him play. "Aaron's a strong player who bites in the tackle and he's the sort of character we're going to need in the coming months. "I watched him play for South Africa in the Confederations Cup over the summer and he did great. "He can play in defence or in midfield but I mostly see him as a midfielder. We've done extremely well to get him here. I'm really pleased that he's joined. "Both Steve and Aaron have got plenty of experience and they're both very good players."
