Pompey boss hails Rovers chief

And stand-in Portsmouth boss Hart, whose team still need one more win to secure top-flight status, admits: "I'm not sure who is the ugliest, me or Sam.[LNB]"But either way we've both inherited similar situations and made our teams more resilient, more difficult to beat.[LNB]"If he uses the big lad Chris Samba in attack again tomorrow he'll come up against our two big lads Sol Campbell and Sylvain Distin and it won't be very pleasing on the eye, possibly even brutal.[LNB]"But as a player I well recall I had to mark Big Sam playing for Blackpool against Bolton in front of 20,000 in the Second Division.[LNB]"We were both centre-backs but when he came up for a corner I think Sam started his run-up from the halfway line.[LNB]"Obviously I usually came out on top but Sam's become a top manager.[LNB]"He did a terrific job at Bolton, even taking them into Europe.[LNB]"And if he was still at Newcastle maybe they wouldn't be in the situation they are in now."[LNB]Hart, 55, learned his trade under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest, but likes to play the game in a straightforward manner - like Allardyce.[LNB]He added: "Sam's brought teams a way of playing that gets results and although he is probably a little bit more high tech than me, that's what I've tried to do in this job at Pompey."[LNB]Hart has won three, lost three and drawn five since taking over from sacked Tony Adams in February.[LNB]Despite last week's biggest defeat so far at home to Arsenal - 3-0 - it is a proud record especially considering two points were gleaned from the previous nine games before he took charge.[LNB]Yet Hart insists he "won't put any pressure on anyone at this club" to give him the job full time if Pompey survive for next season.[LNB]Should they fail at Blackburn they still have a home game against Sunderland a week on Monday and a trip to Wigan on the last day of the campaign to get the necessary points.[LNB]Hart said: "Right now I'm still planning on going back to the youth development role I have here because I am on contract for that. I have counted it a privilege, though, to be appointed to the first team but I won't say anything more until the end of season when we are safe.[LNB]"I've enjoyed the job because of the players' response which always makes a tough challenge more palatable.[LNB]"I certainly do feel a weight of responsibility. If we stay up, as I believe we will, there'll be more than an element of relief as well as pride."[LNB]Hart confirmed Portsmouth have made an approach for Hamilton's young Scotland player of the year James McCarthy, 18, but refused to comment on the Scottish club's claim that a £500,000 offer has been rejected.[LNB][LNB]
