Pedersen plans Rovers stay

Morten Gamst Pedersen has revealed his intention to win a new contract at Blackburn Rovers.[LNB] The Norway international has spent the last five years at Ewood Park, earning a reputation as something of a fans' favourite along the way.[LNB]His current deal is set to expire at the end of next season, but he has admitted he would be happy to prolong that agreement.[LNB]Pedersen accepts that the 2008/09 campaign was a turbulent year for Rovers, with Sam Allardyce brought in midway through the season to rectify the failings of Paul Ince, but the 27-year-old believes the club are heading in the right direction.[LNB]"There were a lot of poor performances under Ince, but Allardyce has helped to bring back consistency and results have improved," Pedersen told Aftenposten.[LNB]"I have a year left on my contract and I like it at Blackburn."[LNB]TalksOn the possibility of penning an extension, he added: "We have talked about it, but not sat down yet.[LNB]"I know they want to talk about an extension, so I am calm at the moment."[LNB]Pedersen has also welcomed the recent arrival of South African star Elrio van Heerden to Ewood Park, insisting competition for places is precisely what the club needs to establish.[LNB]"It's good to have competition. Buying and selling is part of football," he said.[LNB]"I can play several positions and I plan to keep playing regularly next season."[LNB]
