Pedersen confident of Rovers revival

Rovers needed solid end-of-season form to steer clear of relegation after a poor start to the campaign cost former manager Paul Ince his job. Ince lasted just 177 days at the club as Allardyce was appointed to pick up the pieces and save the Ewood Park side from the drop. Pedersen insists the side's poor form was due to regular changes in management coupled with injuries and believes normal service will be resumed next season. "We have been really unlucky with injuries. Last year and the season before we did not have those problems so it is always going to be your turn," he told the Lancashire Telegraph. "Every year one team has that problem so maybe this year was our year. We just had to handle it. "What can you do? You have to work hard with the players you have got and hopefully we can get everyone fit for next season. "We have got five first-team players out. Half of our team was out, we are looking forward to next season and when everyone is ready to play. "There will be more competition, players will be sharper, so it is almost like new signings without spending the money on them. I am looking forward to some more good times next time around." The 27-year-old hinted that the unexpected departure of former manager Mark Hughes to Manchester City last summer damaged preparations for the campaign. Pedersen believes preparation for the new season will be much better this time around and is looking forward to Allardyce's first full season in charge. "If you get everyone fit and have a full pre-season with the manager and everything is in place from the beginning, we can start from the beginning," he said. "He is a great manager so I am looking forward to having the whole season with him. "Of course we want to finish the season in style and give ourselves and the supporters a good end to the season. "We can then start from scratch and get ready for the new season. That helps a lot. "It is a big thing to survive this season but we have worked together on the pitch and training ground and we all deserve a pat on the back, especially the gaffer because he has given us new ideas. "We were in the same situation when Sparky (Hughes) came in as manager. We were down at the bottom, he got us out of relegation and then we kicked on. I have got the same feeling now. "We are going to have a pre-season together and get some ideas and get some players fit. I am looking forward to next season."
