Nelsen: Ince axe came at right time

Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen believes Rovers gave themselves a better chance of staying up by replacing Paul Ince with Sam Allardyce.Ince got the boot in December with Rovers second from bottom of the Premier League. The club's board got criticism in some quarters for not sticking with the young English manager, but Nelsen believes the directors were right to move when they did.He told the News of the World: "Before Sam came in we were an absolute sinking ship, in big trouble."If the directors had not moved when they did we'd have been in serious trouble now."There is no disrespect to Paul. He will be a fantastic manager when the time is right but results are all that matters."Sam changed little things that his experience as a manager saw that Paul didn't."Allardyce has dragged the side out of the relegation zone with five games remaining, including Sunday's North West derby against Wigan.[LNB]
