Nelsen happy controlling destiny
Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen thinks it is crucial that Rovers' top-flight destiny remains firmly in their own hands.
Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Stoke City means Sam Allardyce's side are just three points above Middlesbrough with five games left in the campaign.
Rovers thought they had done enough to secure a point from their trip to the Britannia Stadium, but Liam Lawrence's 75th minute effort proved to be the match-winning goal.
Blackburn entertain Wigan at Ewood Park on Sunday and Nelsen wants the wins to come sooner rather than later in order to remove the anxiety surrounding their top-flight status.
Annoying
"It was very annoying because I think we pretty much handled everything that was thrown at us, but then we had a lapse in concentration," he told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"I don't know what happened at the back post we had two men on one, and it ended up a one-on-one five metres out. I don't know what happened there.
"It makes next Sunday very important and I suppose it is getting to the now or never stage. It is still in our hands though and the quicker we get a couple of wins the quicker we can get put this to bed."
Focused
Nelsen has admitted Blackburn never came close to winning the game at Stoke, but that the players are now fully-focused on taking on Wigan this Sunday.
"To be honest we did not create much," he continued. "I don't think we troubled them as much as we would like. In the end it was going to be who made the mistake and we did.
"You do look at the other results now. We have to take care of our business though and that is what we will be trying to do next week.
"We have to understand we can't lose our concentration for a minute in this league. I think we did that for the goal. I don't even think it was that dangerous a cross."
