Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelsen is excited to learn who manager Sam Allardyce will sign to replace Roque Santa Cruz. The Ewood Park outfit are on the lookout for a new striker following the Paraguayan international's summer move to Manchester City. Allardyce has been linked with a host of strikers, a list that includes the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Peter Crouch, but, as yet, fans still await his replacement. Nelsen says the Rovers squad trust Allardyce's judgement following last year's exploits and that they are excited about the forthcoming season. "If Roque's funds become available we're probably looking for a big signing, obviously a striker," he told Sky Sports News. "You never know who could join. With Sam's reputation in the market it'll be interesting who he brings in. "What the manager did last season, all the players have complete trust in him and who he's going to bring in and the system he sets out. "We're just excited to get going." Allardyce guided Rovers away from the drop zone last term after replacing Paul Ince and Nelsen believes it is imperative that they start on a positive note this time around. "Once Sam took over last season and with the horrid injuries we had, we still produced close to European form," he continued. "Now we're just got to replicate that over the whole season and see where that takes us."
