Roma striker Mirko Vucinic's agent claims to have held preliminary discussions with Manchester United regarding a transfer.[LNB] Montenegro international Vucinic, 27, has been strongly linked with a move away from Roma this summer after five years in the Italian capital.[LNB]Juventus were thought to be favourites to land his signature and Blackburn were also credited with an interest, while Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini admitted earlier this week a departure was almost inevitable.[LNB]United now appear to have emerged as surprise contenders to sign the talented forward, with his representative Alessandro Lucci saying contact has been made with the Premier League champions.[LNB]Lucci admits a deal is a long way off being agreed as there is not an offer on the table at present, but he is keen to see how things develop. [LNB]"The meeting with the leaders of Manchester United was yesterday," Lucci told lasignoraingiallorosso.it.[LNB]"It has only been a chat, in which no offers have been made nor was there an agreement sorted.[LNB]"The English club, however, really like Vucinic, but to see him with the shirt of the Red Devils, there is still work to do."[LNB]Sir Alex Ferguson has already bolstered his ranks with the signings of Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea since the end of last season and announced on Monday that there were unlikely to be any further additions before the Community Shield on August 7.
