Mintal committed to Nurnberg

Marek Mintal has dismissed reports suggesting he could be set to leave Nurnberg in the summer. The striker has returned to form in Bundesliga 2 this season, leading to speculation that he would consider a new challenge if Nurnberg fail to win promotion back to the top flight. Blackburn have been strongly linked with a move for his services and Juraj Venglos, who represents Mintal in his native Slovakia, had been quoted as saying there was interest from a number of clubs. "Marek's future depends on whether Nurnberg will be promoted at the end of the season," Venglos said in Sport Bild. "There are offers for him from the Bundesliga and England." Mintal himself has denied the claims and insisted he is focused on trying to help Nurnberg secure an immediate return to the Bundesliga following their relegation last term. "This is unbelievable and not true," said the player. "I do not know where he has got this information from. He had intended to contact me lately, but we did not speak to each other. For me it is only Nurnberg and promotion actually." Mintal's Germany-based player agent Peter Hammer added: "There are clearly no offers for Marek and we do absolutely not offer Marek to any club. "Much to the contrary. He is under contract until June 2011 with an option for one further season and would like to see out his career with the club." Nurnberg are also confident the 31-year-old will stay with the club regardless of what happens regarding their promotion push. Nurnberg's general manager Martin Bader said: "Marek is a full part of our plans, way beyond the end of the season. "If he really wants to move on, he could. I have promised him that after our relegation and I would stand firm to that. "But he is a really important player with a high reputation among the club and its fans. If it is possible then we want him to remain part of our club after the end of his playing career."
