Mark Hughes must have smiled when he read last week that his Brazilian midfielder Elano was keen on a new contract. The 27-year-old has been a source of persistent unrest for Hughes this season and now he wants to stay for ever. You couldn't make it up. Hughes in his usual understated way put an end to the matter at the weekend. 'He has two years of his contract left and that's all there is to it,' the City manager said with a smile. 'We are not in the habit of renegotiating when players have two years left.'[LNB] No deal yet: Elano has said he wants a new Manchester City contract, but Mark Hughes is holding off[LNB]Let's hope Elano doesn't take it too badly, for the talented forward has come into his own since an injury to Shaun Wright-Phillips allowed him back into the team at the start of last month. He may not be much use in a crisis or when points need to be hard-earned, but with City playing well there are few better to watch and that includes his friend and countryman Robinho. Manchester City v Blackburn: How the game unfoldedJO TALKS TO NEIL ASHTON: On why he's happy to feel wanted at EvertonIAN RIDLEY: Revamped UEFA Cup is in a league of its own for utter lunacyBLACKBURN ROVERS FC
