Latics linked with Kuranyi swoop

Wigan have been linked with Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi as manager Steve Bruce steps up his efforts to replace Egyptian hitman Amr Zaki. The FC Schalke striker has recently been linked with both Blackburn and West Ham, while Latics have also been touted as a possible destination. Kuranyi has admitted that he would relish a move to the Premier League and, with a record of almost a goal every other game at club level, is likely to be in demand. The Brazilian-born Germany international, 27, has also bagged 19 goals in 52 games for his adopted country so clearly knows his way to goal. And with doubts increasing over the future of on-loan striker Zaki, it seems Bruce will be forced to look elsewhere. However it remains to be seen if Kuranyi would be seen as a viable option for Latics, with his wages likely to be just one obstacle in persuading him to join the club.
