Sam Allardyce has hit out at Bolton[LNB]chairman Phil Gartside for trying to devalue his achievements during his time at the Reebok. [LNB]The Blackburn[LNB]manager faces his former side tonight still angry at Gartside's attempts to belittle his success at the club. [LNB] Allardyce: 'Bolton haven't moved on' [LNB] Gartside stunned his one-time close friend by claiming, days after he left in April 2007, that successor Sammy Lee would be a better boss at Bolton. [LNB]Lee was forced out after six months having won three of his 14 games in charge, while Allardyce took the club into the Premier League in 2001 and won a place in the UEFA Cup four years later.[LNB]Allardyce was angered further at what he felt were Gartside's attempts to 'wind up' Bolton fans to boo him when he returned to the Reebok as Newcastle manager in August 2007. [LNB]His new club silenced the critics with a 3-1 win. [LNB]Allardyce said: 'My relationship with the chairman and the Bolton board is distant now but that's life. You would have to ask Phil Gartside and the board if they have a problem. But if you look at my track record it's as good as any manager in the history of Bolton Wanderers, so I don't have to prove myself to anybody. [LNB] [LNB] 'I heard what was said when I left in terms of how the club would be more successful. That certainly hasn't been the case, has it? The club hasn't moved on and achieved the same things that I achieved. It must have been said out of anger, I suppose, or the people trying to protect themselves, but the bitterness came from the fact that I moved on. It wasn't particularly nice to be booed on my return, especially after what I had achieved for that club. [LNB]'But some people behind the scenes are bitter about what had happened and I think that's all because I decided to leave.'
