Kit men under a spell: Liverpool ace 'Mascerano' joins Rovers' 'Satna' Cruz

If Blackburn are desperate to keep hold of Roque 'Satna' Cruz, they have a funny way of showing it. Someone at the Ewood Park club can't even spell his name right, judging by the shirt he wore against Hull on Sunday. They weren't the only culprits, with Liverpool missing the 'H' out of Javier Mascherano's surname on the shirt he wore during the 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough on Saturday. Paraguay striker Santa Cruz's moniker has been (correctly) on the scoresheet 29 times since  he signed from Bayern Munich 20 months ago - form that has seen Manchester City pursue the talisman since the summer. Perhaps the embarrassment was why he didn't find the net during the 2-1 win against  Hull at the KC Stadium. At least they didn't call him Satan. And, unbelievably, Rovers have got form for getting their 'Ts' and 'Ns' the wrong way round. David Bentley suffered the same shame as Santa Cruz when he faced Manchester United at Old Trafford in November 2007. Soon after, he was off to Tottenham and few would be surprised if Santa Cruz gets shirty and jumps ship to admirers Manchester City at the end of this season. Blackburn aren't the only culprits. Manchester United once spelled David Beckham's name wrong on his shirt for the 1997 Charity Shield. He wasn't quite a celebrity of messianic proportions back then, but his appellation is hardly a difficult, exotic, foreign spelling.
