Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jake Kean has earned himself a two-year contract extension.

The 21-year-old has been with Rovers since 2009 and he had no hesitation in signing the new deal that should keep him at Ewood Park until 2016.

So far this season, Kean has made just one appearance in the first team, that was a League Cup game against MK Dons, but he did play against Chelsea in the last game of last season to get his first taste of Premiership football.

Rovers released a statement on their official website which read: "Blackburn Rovers are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Jake Kean has committed his future to the club

"The highly-rated England Under-20 international has signed a two-year extension to his current contract, which will keep him at Ewood Park until June 2016.

"He has been Rovers' second-choice keeper for every Championship fixture this season and is relishing a return to Pride Park this weekend."
