Kean On Arsenal Humiliattion

Steve Kean watched his side get well and truly hammered at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, then he apologised to fans before coming up with the excuses.

In my opinion Kean has no idea how to manage a side and he should stop kidding himself now that he is or will ever be one and leave with what little dignity he has left. But we all know that is never going to happen and with the owners not having a clue either, the fans look like suffering much longer.

Saturday’s 7-1 score line was more than just a defeat, it was a complete embarrassment, a humiliation, but the Rovers boss simply pointed to an early goal and a sending off as the reason they were completely trounced.

He, of course, did not want to dwell on the performance of his side.

It is true that they got off to a very bad start indeed, they were a goal behind before the clock had registered a minute and a half and when Gael Givet was sent off, Kean had himself the perfect excuse for a defeat, except this time it wasn’t just a defeat.

“It was a tough afternoon. When you come here and try to compete against Arsenal with 11 men its tough enough,” he said.

“The two things that had the biggest bearing on the game was the early goal and us going down to 10 men. The ref didn’t have a tough decision to make. We all know the rules now, if you leave the ground with two feet that type of challenge will not be accepted any longer. That made it very difficult for us.”

And of the sending off, he offered no excuses, he just mentioned that Givet was feeling a bit down after his lunge and Kean felt sorry for him.

“He’s cut up. He’s a very genuine guy, everybody knows that. He’s a committed player. He’s really down at the moment," he added.

“We had to take David Dunn off to put Grant Hanley on and then it’s difficult as we didn’t have enough players in the middle of the pitch to put pressure on the ball. It was a long afternoon after that. Having said that it’s the first time this season where we’ve not been in the game and got turned over.

“We just need to analysis that and pull it to bits because we’ve got some massive games coming up and it’s not helped the goal difference in any way. We’ve picked up an injury with Jason Lowe, Gaels going to miss three matches so it’s been a poor afternoon.”
