Manager Steve Kean's latest brainstorm was to collar the striker who went out on loan to Feyenoord last season and scored 20 goals and get him to repeat the trick for Rovers and voila! Win the title and promotion.
However that scheme has come to a premature end after Manchester City turn out to be not so keen on letting the 20 year old out on loan to a Championship side, but they would flog him if Rovers had £6million doing nothing.
So, after being told to go take a running jump by both City and Huddersfield Town, Kean must turn his attention elsewhere.
