Kean close to treble signing coup

Simon Vukcevic, George John and Vedad Ibisevic are all close to joining Blackburn Rovers, according to boss Steve Kean.

The Rovers chief has been battling to bring in new faces to swell his depleted ranks at Ewood Park and he appears set to secure three deals imminently.

As we reported on Thursday, Sporting Lisbon's attacking midfielder, Vukcevic, is undergoing a medical with a view to sealing a £2million switch to Rovers. And Kean is set to add American centre-back, John, and Bosnian international striker, Ibisevic, to the fold.

FC Dallas' 24-year-old Greek-American John, who has been touted for a call-up to both countries, is due to have a medical at Brockhall on Friday, while German club Hoffenheim's 27-year-old £6million-rated Ibisevic is currently in talks with Rovers and could wrap up a move over the weekend. John would be available immediately, but a thigh injury could keep Ibisevic sidelined until September.

Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoah was linked earlier in the week, but while that loan deal is unlikely, Kean is looking for a fourth new face between now and the end of August. He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "A couple of bids have been accepted. We've got scans booked in, personal terms agreed. That's always good."Vukcevic is the midfielder, the striker we can't say because we are still in negotiations, while the defender will be in for a medical."I am bearing up well, when you can get your key players back on the pitch, when you get bids accepted, when you know there are medicals in place, when you see things coming together, then you are going to have a smile on your face because you know what type of squad you are going to have. "I can reassure the fans we have three players in already, and I think we will have another four players in before the window closes. It will certainly be three but it could well be four.

So seven new faces in one transfer window and that has been good."Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury has also been linked, while loan bids could go in for Danny Wilson and Manchester City's Dedryk Boyata.

And Kean added: "The three players we are hoping to sign are all permanent and the fourth would be permanent as well. We are keeping our loans for last minute stuff."
