Kean challenges Rovers squad

lackburn boss Steve Kean has backed his fringe players to 'seize the moment' as he copes with an injury crisis at Ewood Park.[LNB] Rovers are set to be without a number of key players for this weekend's clash with Manchester City stretching Kean's squad to its limits.[LNB]Last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Newcastle was compounded by injuries to defensive trio Scott Dann, Michel Salgado and Gael Givet, while Martin Olsson is suspended following his red card at St James' Park.[LNB]Ryan Nelson is also unavailable with a knee problem, although David Dunn, Morten Gamst Pedersen and David Goodwillie are expected to be back in contention.[LNB]Kean has Simon Vukcevic, Radosav Petrovic, Jason Roberts and Ruben Rochina pushing for a starting spot, and says the club's work in the transfer window has eased any injury concerns.[LNB]"There are a lot of injuries from one game and you can take that if you get something from the game, but not to get anything from it is tough.," Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph.[LNB]"We will get back on the training ground, prepare ourselves in the right way, see what bodies we can get and we will go again. [LNB]"Some of the players who perhaps haven't had much of a run this season could get their chance. Obviously if the injuries tot up then the lads that have the opportunity have to grab that. [LNB]"If they get given the chance then they have to take it and these times are always a time when you look at the depth of the squad and thankfully we have other players in these positions and they can come in and play."
