Kalinic poised for Rovers bow

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce is set to unleash new signing Nikola Kalinic against Gillingham next week. The Croatian striker agreed a move to Ewood Park at the start of August, but has seen his arrival delayed by work permit issues. He has, however, finally been granted the necessary paperwork and has begun training with his new team-mates. Having missed most of pre-season he is still some way short of match fitness and Allardyce will refrain from using the 21-year-old at Sunderland on Saturday. Kalinic will be given his chance, though, in a Carling Cup clash at Priestfield next Tuesday. "Kalinic will probably play at Gillingham at the earliest," Allardyce told the Lancashire Telegraph. "We will have a look at him and bring him on slowly."
