Hughes: I would have left Blackburn last summer, regardless of City offer
Mark Hughes insists he would have quit Blackburn last summer, regardless of whether he was offered the Manchester City job.
The Welshman believes he got out at the right time with key players like Brad Friedel and David Bentley on the verge of leaving.
Hughes said: 'There was a limit to how far they could go. I thought it would be difficult to keep on progressing. So I knew this season was probably the right time to leave.'
