Harry: Van Nistelrooy in Ruud health

12 December 2009 11:06
Former Manchester United striker Van Nistelrooy, 33, is out of favour at Real Madrid and has been linked with a move to Sam Allardyce's Blackburn, while Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is short on attacking options after Robin van Persie's injury.[LNB]Redknapp would be interested himself but already has Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko fighting for a starting place.[LNB]"He's a top player, if he's anywhere near fit I'm sure he can still play for a while but I've never enquired for him," Redknapp said.[LNB]"Sam's dug a few out like that over the years - he would come over here and score, he was always has done.[LNB]"I can see him going somewhere like Arsenal. Tottenham is a big club - we shouldn't be afraid to compete with these clubs in the transfer market. But what would I do? I have Crouch, Keane and Defoe and Pav. If I got Van Nistelrooy, I give myself another problem."[LNB]Defoe has been in sparkling form for Redknapp this season and looks set for a World Cup place next summer, although strikers like Michael Owen are breathing down his neck.[LNB]"Jermain is so sharp and lively," Redknapp said. "You see him out there in training and he is bright as a button. I would definitely see him going to the World Cup but it is not up to me.[LNB]"It is not impossible (for Owen to go ahead of Defoe). I think they are both great strikers. We have got Wayne Rooney and then it is competition for places after that.[LNB]"I think Jermain has got to keep scoring because he knows there is competition for places."[LNB][LNB]
