Dundee United are still waiting for Gavin Gunning to reach a settlement with Blackburn before signing the defender.[LNB] Gunning last week agreed a move to United but he has since been on Republic of Ireland Under-21 duty and has not sorted out his contractual issues with Rovers.[LNB]The 20-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Motherwell, is unlikely to feature in the Scottish Premier League contest at Celtic Park on Saturday.[LNB]United manager Peter Houston said: "We have agreed a deal with them but he still has some problems that him and Blackburn have got to sort out.[LNB]"Hopefully it will still get sorted out but he is away in to see his manager on Thursday.[LNB]"So nothing is imminent but certainly he is desperate to come up to Dundee United."[LNB]Gunning's arrival will provide much-needed defensive cover after Scott Severin suffered a triple leg break during Saturday's 1-1 draw with St Mirren.[LNB]Severin has returned home following surgery but is expected to be out for the rest of the season.[LNB]Meanwhile, Danny Swanson has recovered from the virus that forced him out of the St Mirren game.[LNB]"Danny Swanson is back training again, whether he is in the squad we will need to see because he has not played much," Houston said.[LNB]"Gary Mackay-Steven is touch and go with an ankle injury."
