Givet boost for Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have been boosted by the news that Gael Givet's knee injury is not as bad as initially feared. Rovers boss Sam Allardyce expressed his concern that the Frenchman could be out for some time after he twisted his knee at Everton. Givet was replaced by Ryan Nelsen in last Sunday's 3-0 loss at Goodison Park and Allardyce has been contemplating soldiering on without Givet. However, while Blackburn will be without the former Marseille man for the visit of Aston Villa this weekend, he should be available for the trip to Arsenal a week later. "Gael has a slight knee problem," he told the club's official website. "We think that it isn't as serious a damage as we first expected off the scan. "It needs to settle down. There's a bit of inflammation, some swelling will have to go away. "He'll be very doubtful for Saturday, but certainly the week after he should be okay."
