Highly-rated England Under 21 goalkeeper Frankie Fielding has joined Derby County on a one-month loan deal from Blackburn Rovers.

Moving on: Fielding has joined Derby on one-month loan from Blackburn

The 22-year-old has yet to play for Rovers under boss Sam Allardyce despite his fledgling reputation at international level where he has been called upon by Fabio Capello to join the senior national team earlier this season.

Fielding could now make his debut for the Championship club against Preston on Saturday as Derby manager Nigel Clough celebrated the temporary deal.

'It is a real coup for us to bring Frank in,' he told the club's official website.

'He is currently the first-choice England Under 21 goalkeeper and been sought after by quite a few clubs.

'We tried to bring him in last season, but the deal didn't materialise.

'He has developed further since then and we're pleased we've been able to bring him in because we required some cover in goal after Stephen (Bywater) picked up his injury.

'Blackburn and Sam Allardyce (Blackburn manager) have been extremely helpful and we're grateful for their assistance.'

Real coup: Derby boss Clough was pleased to land the goalkeeper

Fielding helped Rochdale win promotion to League One last season during an impressive loan stint at Spotland and will relish the opportunity of first team football having been third choice behind Paul Robinson and Mark Bunn at Ewood Park.
