Fielding set for Blackburn return

Blackburn goalkeeper Frank Fielding will return to the Premier League club when his loan spell at Derby ends this weekend.

The second month of Fielding's loan expires after the Rams` game at Bristol City on Saturday, and Stephen Bywater is ready to regain the number one jersey following a wrist fracture. Fielding was signed when Bywater suffered his injury in mid-October.

The 22-year-old has made 10 consecutive starts and has kept his place despite Bywater`s return to the squad. But after three defeats in the last four matches, Bywater is pushing to replace Fielding at Ashton Gate.

Fielding`s contribution has pleased Nigel Clough, but the Derby boss insists he is unable to keep both goalkeepers in the squad.

"Frank will go back. We are carrying two number one goalkeepers because both want to play and both want to be number one," said Clough.

"If Frank stays, Stephen is not going to be happy being number two and vice-versa.

"We are not in a position as a club where we can keep two number ones happy. Stephen is fully fit now, he has had enough training time and he will come back in."
