Hughes' side are being tipped to challenge for honours this season after nearly £100million of investment in his star-studded squad during the close season.

Their new-look side includes former Rovers ace Roque Santa Cruz and Dunn has warned City not to expect the welcome mat when they turn up at Ewood Park.

Dunn insists Sam Allardyce's Rovers will be playing an aggressive style of football and that they will be looking to ruff up their opponents by getting stuck into the tackles.

Kick lumps"It's important we do our best and kick lumps out of them - fairly, of course," Dunn told the Sun.

"We will have to be really aggressive against them and knock them about a bit."

"I think it's a good time to play City," he added. "With the money they have, they are going to buy the best players.

"We don't have the same resources but as soon as the lads cross the white line, the money doesn't really matter. It's about how much you want it."
