Desai clarifies plans to Rovers fans

lackburn's prospective new owner insists she is targeting the Champions League and has assured fans he has the funds to back Sam Allardyce.[LNB] The Ewood Park outfit are set to be taken over by Venky's, an India-based poultry and pharmaceutical firm, with Anuradha Desai on course to be the club's new owner.[LNB]It had been reported that only £5million would be invested in new players, but Desai insists that is only an initial figure, with more to follow.[LNB]Venky's already have a long-term plan in place for the 1995 Premier League winners and are keen to break into the top four of England's top-flight.[LNB]And Desai has pledged that they will not risk the long-term future of the North West side in the pursuit of success.[LNB]"Initially there will be £5million put in, straightaway, to buy players but of course if we have to do more, then we will," she told the Lancashire Telegraph.[LNB]"There will then be much more investment and we have devised a spending strategy already for the next three years that will see the manager given significant funds to buy players.[LNB]"I am not promising that we will be a top-four team but I can promise that we will try and that is what we will aim for.[LNB]"We are committed to improving the performance of the team and when the situation is right, there will be investment.[LNB]"There will be much, much more than £5million and we want the fans to know that.[LNB]"We are trying to complete the deal as fast as possible because we are very excited about the prospect of owning a Premier League club.[LNB]"We will do the best by the fans and also by the club and it is very important to continue the traditions of the club.[LNB]"We are going to be good responsible owners and we want to make the club stronger."
