David Beckham throws weight behind World Cup bid as Ahsan Ali Syed wants superstar at Blackburn

David Beckham has urged football fans to show their support for England's 2018 World Cup bid during 'Back the Bid Week'.[LNB]A week of events has been organised in the run-up to the FIFA Inspection Team's technical evaluation of the bid, which will take place between August 23 and 26, while next Tuesday marks 100 days until the winner is announced.[LNB]Backing the bid: Beckham[LNB]England 2018 vice-president Beckham said: 'The support we have had for the bid from the public over the past year has been incredible.[LNB]'Back the Bid Week provides the opportunity for the nation to come together again as a team and try and win the World Cup together.[LNB]'I've no doubt that fans from all over the country will unite and show the FIFA Inspection Team the type of passion and festival of football we could create if we staged the world's greatest sporting event.'[LNB]The bid will be promoted at games across the country over the weekend while a range of public events, including children's coaching sessions and mass-participation football games, will be staged throughout the week.[LNB]Meanwhile, Indian tycoon Ahsan Ali Syed wants to bring Beckham to Blackburn when he buys the club.[LNB]The Bahrain-based millionaire is a huge Beckham fan and will promise the former England skipper a massive pay day to end his career at Ewood Park.[LNB]He said: 'I was 26 when I started following the Premier League. I used to like Blackburn back then and also used to follow Manchester United's fortunes because of David Beckham.
