Clubs chasing Zoro's mark

Clubs in England, Italy and France are chasing the signature of former Blackburn trialist Marco Zoro. The Ivory Coast international defender insists he will not play for present club Benfica again and he is determined to leave for pastures new. The 25-year-old spent five days training at Ewood Park last January in a bid to secure a move to Premier League but Rover boss Sam Allardyce decided against seeking a deal. He has since completed a loan spell at Portuguese side Vitoria Setubal and is due to return to Benfica. But Zoro, who has previously played in Italy for Salernitana and Messina, is adamant he will explore options outside Portugal, with a return to English shores a possibility. "I am not going back to Benfica," he said. "I have proposals from Italy, England and France. "At this point, my agent and Benfica have to examine my situation, so that at the end of my vacation I can go directly to my new club." The player revealed that the move to Blackburn fell through because of money. "I went to Blackburn, but the transfer did not materialise because Benfica asked for a lot of money," he said. "I could not stay without playing, so I was loaned to Vitoria Setubal." After the Blackburn switch failed to materialise, Zoro was linked with Bolton and Wigan, whose boss Steve Bruce is now in charge at Sunderland.
