Club a Nicer Place To Be Without Samba

Steve Kean reckons that the club is a lot better now that Chris Samba has left.

The 27-year-old defender joined big spending Anzhi on Friday in a deal that brought Rovers £12 million.

Of course, the chances of Kean seeing any of this cash to beef up his side for the new season or even bring in loan players for this time around is highly unlikely.

If the job had been handled correctly, Samba would have already been gone by now after wanting a transfer away from Rovers back in January.

But Kean seemed to know better and tried to get the player to stay with a club he was not happy at and be expected to still give his best.

Kean said: "From our point of view Chris never withdrew his transfer request or apologised. He wanted to go - and made that quite public.

"On a positive side, now we know everyone we have in the dressing room wants to be here. We will all be pulling together."
