Chelsea striker Di Santo on verge of agreeing season-long loan at Rovers

Chelsea striker Franco di Santo was having talks at Blackburn over a season-long loan move. Rovers inquired about the 20-year-old Argentinian, whose first-team chances at Stamford Bridge have been limited by Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, last month and Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen for the centre forward to gain top-flight experience. Di Santo joined the Blues from Chile's Audax Italiano in 2008 but there would be no problems with Rovers obtaining a work permit as the striker has an Italian passport. At 6ft 4in, Di Santo would be an ideal replacement for Roque Santa Cruz who is has left Blackburn for Manchester City this summer in a £18million deal.
