Carling Cup second round draw: Spurs handed tricky tie at Doncaster

Tottenham will begin their quest for a third successive appearance in the Carling Cup final with a second-round tie at Doncaster. Spurs lost 4-1 on penalties against Manchester United at Wembley in March and will be going all out against their Championship opponents as they bid to get their hands back on the trophy they won with a famous win against Chelsea in the 2008 final. Champagne moment: Manchester United celebrate beating Tottenham in last season's Carling Cup final Port Vale have been rewarded for their first-round win over Sheffield United with a tie against Steel City rivals Wednesday, while the big-spending Manchester City open up their account away at Crystal Palace. Elsewhere, Huddersfield manager Lee Clark will look forward to a return to the north east against his former club Newcastle, while a spiky tie is in the offing at Upton Park, where West Ham will host their arch-rivals Millwall.
