German keeper Bjorn Bussmann has been snapped up by 1860 Munich after failing to make the grade at Blackburn. The 18-year-old had spent the last two seasons in the academy ranks at Ewood Park, but is now heading back to his homeland after Rovers accepted an undisclosed fee for his services. Having represented his country at U19 level on numerous occasions, Bussmann is still held in high regard in Germany. He is not expected to be granted regular first-team football at Bundesliga 2 outfit 1860 Munich next term, with Phillip Tschauner and Michael Hofman ahead of him in the pecking order, but he is excited by the prospect of taking on a new challenge. "The time I spent in England was great experience for me, but the move to 1860 is now the next step in my career," he told the club's official website. "I am happy to pursue my career at this club."
