Boss keen to avoid run repeat

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce is anxious to avoid a repeat of last year's poor winter run. A nine-game run without a win stretching from late November to January sparked fears of a potential relegation battle at Ewood Park. Rovers recovered to finish 10th in the Barclays Premier League, but Allardyce wants points on the board earlier this time. Allardyce told the club's official website: "We are only one point ahead of where we were last season. "We went on a nine-game run without a win and because we didn't convert some of our draws into wins we had everyone speculating about us getting relegated. "We want to make sure we don't put ourselves in that position again. We want to build on what we have already done and not leave it until the last eight games to produce the best phase of the season." Blackburn face Wolves this weekend needing a lift after a 7-1 thrashing by Manchester United in their last outing.
