Bolton striker Kevin Davies is backing his former manager Sam Allardyce to take charge of England.[LNB]Allardyce returns to the Reebok Stadium with Blackburn, having been earmarked by Fabio Capello as a possible successor, with Tottenham's Harry Redknapp the other leading candidate.[LNB]Davies, who made his England debut earlier this season, was rescued from the scrapheap by Allardyce, who signed him from Southampton in 2003.[LNB] Big man for a big job: Blackburn's Sam Allardyce has been tipped as the next England manager by one of his former players, Kevin Davies[LNB]'If you speak to the players they would say they enjoyed playing under him,' said Davies. 'His knowledge of football is very good but he's also very good at getting the best out of players, whether that is from a rollicking or an arm around the shoulder.[LNB]'It's one of his strengths. I remember going on a pre-season tour and he invited me up to his hotel suite and we had a chat and realised my confidence was low. [LNB]'He worked on that, as I'd taken a few knocks at Southampton. I realised I was basically on trial here, but he made me feel great.[LNB]'He knows how to get you firing. I was out of shape when I got here but that soon changed and here I am now.'[LNB] Recommendation: Kevin Davies says Allardyce gets the best out of players[LNB] Allardyce is known for embracing new technology including ProZone. But he also retains an old-fashioned love for the game.[LNB]Davies, 33, added: 'I loved playing under him. He wanted to play with passion and is ambitious.[LNB]'It was a shock to see him leave. We were pushing for Europe at the time. It's taken the club a little time to recover and we are now pushing in the right direction.'[LNB]That is down to manager Owen Coyle, and Davies added: 'He has put his own stamp on the side and lets you express yourself.'[LNB] BLACKBURN ROVERS
