Marshall set for Rovers return

Ben Marshall will be in Blackburn's squad against Wigan at Ewood Park.

The winger has been absent since the end of January because of an ankle ligament injury and it was feared he may not play again this season, but boss Gary Bowyer has been impressed with his attitude in returning to fitness.

Rovers have good injury news elsewhere too with midfield trio David Dunn (calf), Dickson Etuhu (hamstring) and Jason Lowe (ankle) all available to Bowyer. The only definite absentees are full-backs Adam Henley (ankle) and Tommy Spurr (groin).

Wigan's win in midweek virtually extinguished Rovers' play-off aspirations. They could still mathematically make the top six, however they would need Reading and Brighton to lose and overturn a seven-goal swing in goal difference.

Uwe Rosler has vowed to give some of his fringe players a run out after Wigan secured their play-off spot ahead of their trip.

Latics' midweek victory over Birmingham confirmed their top-six spot, although they could slip down into sixth if they were to lose and Reading were to win

Rosler has had to negotiate a hectic fixture list and, given his side will now play at least 61 competitive fixtures this term, the likes of defensive duo Juan Carlos Garcia and Thomas Rogne and forward Nicky Maynard could all be given a chance to impress.

Centre-back Ivan Ramis (hamstring) is close to a return but Tuesday"s win means he may be given a little more time to recover. Meanwhile, Ben Watson (broken leg) and fellow midfielder Chris McCann (knee) remain absent.
