Jason Lowe set for Blackburn return

Jason Lowe will return to the fold when Blackburn host Nottingham Forest at Ewood Park in the Sky Bet Championship.

The utility-man sat out at the weekend when Rovers drew 0-0 with Ipswich having triggered a suspension with his fifth booking of the campaign.

Boss Owen Coyle has confirmed that Elliott Ward will again miss out having fractured his ankle in training last week, with an operation now required to remedy an issue that will keep the defender out until the new year.

Gordon Greer and Corry Evans are set to miss out having come off on Saturday with recurrences of groin injuries while Adam Henley (hamstring) is a long-term absentee.

Britt Assombalonga could return to the Forest squad as a substitute at Ewood Park after almost two months on the sidelines with a knee problem.

"Britt looks good. But without a game for so long, he's not ready to play a full game. We can use him from the bench," said Reds boss Philippe Montanier at his pre-match press conference.

Fellow striker Nicklas Bendtner had to come off with an ankle injury during the home win against Birmingham on Friday night. He has damaged ligaments and it remains unclear how long his absence might be.

Daniel Pinillos has resumed training and is making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury and the defender is close to being back in contention, but Matty Fryatt (Achilles) is still out.
