Midfielder Chris Taylor could make Blackburn squad return after injury

Midfielder Chris Taylor could make his long-awaited return to the Blackburn squad when Ipswich visit Ewood Park in the Sky Bet Championship.

Taylor was ruled out for six months with a groin injury which eventually required surgery but was back on the pitch recently in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Fleetwood.

He then stepped up his comeback with a scoring appearance for the under-21s on Monday and now hopes to feature for Gary Bowyer's side.

Tommy Spurr made a late substitute appearance in the 1-1 draw with Hull after concussion and will be targeting a starting berth while Danny Guthrie will be assessed after his early departure at the KC Stadium.

Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy could look to freshen up his starting XI for the trip.

David McGoldrick and Brett Pitman came off the bench to help Town secure a late 2-2 draw at home to Bristol City, so may come into contention.

Midfielders Giles Coke (groin) and Teddy Bishop (shin) are still not available, but could feature again following the international break.

Luke Hyam is another on the comeback trail after knee surgery, with a return to training pencilled in for November.
