Blackburn Rovers v Stoke City Live

Blackburn Rovers play host to Stoke City looking to recover from a 3-0 midweek reverse at Fulham. The Ewood Park outfit are currently under the charge of assistant manager Neil McDonald, with boss Sam Allardyce away undergoing heart surgery. McDonald was not too disheartened by the loss at Craven Cottage, saying after the game: "I thought in the first half we played some really good stuff. "We should have scored in the first minute, but we didn't take that chance. Then there was some poor defending for the three goals all in all. "Second half from our point of view we huffed and puffed a bit, but there was no real end product." McDonald has the luxury of a virtually fully-fit squad to choose from, although Brett Emerton missed the Fulham clash with a slight knee problem. In attack Franco di Santo and Jason Roberts both failed to impress on Wednesday and could be relegated to the bench. Stoke make the short trip to Lancashire on the back of an unconvincing 1-0 home win over Portsmouth last time out. However, boss Tony Pulis will not have been too worried as the three points lifted his side up to ninth place in the table. Midfielder Glenn Whelan is hoping to recover from a groin strain to start, having been forced to sit out the win over rock-bottom Pompey. He told The Sentinel: "I've just had my first training session since the injury and, touch wood, there's been no reaction. "I picked up the injury in training before last week's (Republic of Ireland) game in Paris when I did the splits on a slippery surface." The Potters currently have Mamady Sidibe, Salif Diao and Abdoualye Faye on the sidelines, as they seek to improve on a 3-0 defeat at Ewood Park last season.
