Blackburn resigned to losing Franco Di Santo back to Chelsea, admits Sam Allardyce
Sam Allardyce has hailed the impact on-loan striker Franco Di Santo has made at Blackburn since his move from Chelsea, but admits the Blues are the real winners in the deal.
Di Santo started in Rovers' 2-1 win over Aston Villa at Ewood Park on Saturday, keeping his more celebrated colleague Benni McCarthy on the bench.
And Allardyce had wanted to extend the 20-year-old's loan spell beyond January but believes Di Santo's success means he will be recalled to Stamford Bridge, a move even more likely due to the transfer ban imposed on Chelsea until January 2011.
He said: 'Franco has contributed a huge amount. He could have gone on loan to a club in Europe but Chelsea wanted to find out whether he is good enough for the Premier League.
'There's no doubt that if he continues to play like he did on Saturday he will be great for us. Then perhaps Chelsea can benefit.'
