Blackburn expect Diouf departure

Senegal forward El-Hadji Diouf is expected to leave Blackburn before the start of the season, according to the Premier League club's manager Steve Kean.

Diouf was fined two weeks' wages after failing to report for pre-season training earlier this month and it now appears he has played his last game for Rovers.

"I think it's probably the time for El-Hadji (to go) but it will depend on who is interested," Kean told Sky Sports News. "It depends on what happens with the offers that come in."

Diouf has been left out of Blackburn's pre-season trip to Hong Kong and Kean revealed several clubs have expressed interest in the former Livepool player, who helped Rangers win the Scottish Premier League title during a loan spell at Ibrox last season.

Meanwhile, Kean is hopeful Zimbabwe striker Benjani Mwaruwari, who is currently out of contract, will sign a new deal with Blackburn after the ex-Manchester City man rejected an initial offer from the club.

"It was a bit of a breakdown in communications," Kean said. "But I've spoken to him now and hopefully we'll have a new offer we can go forward with."
