Blackburn confirm Steve Kean as manager until end of the season

Blackburn have confirmed Steve Kean will remain as manager until the end of the season.[LNB]The 43-year-old was promoted from first-team coach to caretaker boss following the surprise sacking of Sam Allardyce and assistant Neil McDonald last week.[LNB]New owners Venky's stressed they would not be rushing to appoint a permanent successor to Allardyce, and and have put their trust in Kean despite his lack of managerial experience.[LNB]A club statement read: 'Following the departure of Mr Sam Allardyce as football manager of Blackburn Rovers Football Club earlier this month, Mr Steve Kean was appointed as manager.[LNB]'Venky's London Limited - Blackburn Rovers - has decided to continue with Mr Steve Kean as manager, until the end of the season, June 2011.'[LNB] Kean as mustard: Blackburn's caretaker boss greets fans before the clash with West Ham last weekend[LNB] Allardyce himself has claimed assistant manager McDonald was a better candidate than Kean to replace him at Ewood Park.[LNB]Talking about his sacking, Allardyce said: 'I can't putmy finger on it, and that's one of the problems because having neverreally met the new owners and having had little dialogue with them,somebody somewhere has obviously said something derogatory to get meout of this job.[LNB]'They have said something either priorto the takeover or just after it happened for them to ring up and saywe no longer want your services or Neil McDonald's.[LNB]'Thatwas a stranger one for me because if there was anybody capable oflooking after the reins when I left, with all due respect to Steve, itwould be Neil.[LNB]'He had aclose working relationship with the players, he was assistant managerand had managed before, so it should have been him to look after thefootball club until such time that they appointed a new manager.'[LNB] Battle: Blackburn's Brett Emerton clashes with West Ham's Carlton Cole last Saturday[LNB]Captain Christopher Samba has already insisted he is intent on leaving the club, so angry is he with the decision to sack Allardyce.[LNB]'If this is the way the club's going to be run from now on, I don't want to be part of it and I want to leave,' the 26-year-old told The Sun.[LNB]'As captain it's very difficult to say this but I've thought long and hard about it.
