It had been a long wait for a goal but finally Blackburn were able to show their supporters why they are unlikely to see a repeat of last season's flirtation with relegation.

The Ewood Park fans had gone five hours and 21 minutes without seeing their team score before El-Hadji Diouf broke clear to score after 18 minutes.

Shortly after the restart, Gael Givet's header was deflected into the Wolves net by Jason Roberts before David Dunn touched in after a strong run from Roberts.Manager Sam Allardyce said: 'We've really put on a good performance with the right result and a comfortable victory.
