Big Sam's a big fan of Mowbray
The two men have differing views on the way the game should be played, with Allardyce's no-nonsense approach in stark contrast to the ethos of Mowbray, who favours a flowing passing game.
Speaking ahead of their meeting on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday, Allardyce said: "I am an admirer of Tony.
"He has stuck to his principles. But, as far as I am concerned, it is all about staying in the Premier League."
Allardyce added: "The fact is West Brom did not have the budget and that's why they have slipped back down.
"But you cannot blame the club for that - they just wanted to function within their financial means."
