Big Sam nervous over survival bid

Rovers were narrowly beaten by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, only their second defeat in eight games since Allardyce succeeded Paul Ince in December.[LNB]However, a battling display and the perceived injustice of the failure to get a second-half penalty when Morten Gamst Pedersen went down under Rafael Da Silva's challenge, do not mask the fact Blackburn remain in the relegation zone.[LNB]And Allardyce noted the bottom of the table is not quite as congested as it once was, hence his growing concern for the Ewood Park outfit.[LNB]"I am anxious about where we are," he said.[LNB]"We are in the mire and the only things that will get us out of it are victories and points on the board. Generally, performances help you get that.[LNB]"But while we have had consistent performances we have not had a consistent level of points to go with them. That is a big worry."[LNB]Having drawn four of the matches under Allardyce in which they have avoided defeat, Blackburn have tended not to make the most of winning situations.[LNB]Sir Alex Ferguson - when he was not arguing with Allardyce over the incident involving Pedersen which the United boss felt was a clear dive, his counterpart a clear penalty - accepted his side 'just about' deserved their win and few would have begrudged the visitors a point.[LNB]But they ended up with nothing, a continuing flaw Allardyce knows must be put right.[LNB]So, while Blackburn are next in action on Tuesday when they visit Coventry for an FA Cup fifth round replay and the chance to seal a quarter-final meeting with Chelsea, their manager's mind is already wandering to a Premier League encounter with Hull at the KC Stadium next weekend.[LNB]Ferguson is not alone in being convinced Rovers will survive.[LNB]Allardyce knows life is not so easy.[LNB]"We could have got a massive bonus at Old Trafford," reflected Allardyce.[LNB]"A point would have helped us kick on into the Hull game next week.[LNB]"Now we must try to do what we have not been able to do since I have been here and win away from home.[LNB]"The clubs above us are now pulling away. The amount of clubs involved at the bottom is reducing.[LNB]"We have to make sure we are not stuck down there.[LNB]"We have to keep the faith. We are good enough but we have to be determined and resilient enough as well."[LNB][LNB]
