The 20-year-old is adjusting to life at Ewood Park after arriving from the French club.
Allardyce told the club's official website: "He is a talented player and people will pick out his strength in the air but he has more than that.
"In time I think we will see him develop into a rounded midfield player. However we do not want to play him yet if we can help it.
"I would not want to put him in and have him struggle and destroy his confidence."
