Banished Barton vows to stay with Newcastle and battle back to big time
Joey Barton wants to stay with Newcastle and help them bounce straight back up to the Premier League.
Barton missed the final three games of the season after temporary manager Alan Shearer told the controversial midfielder to stay away from the club following his dismissal in the defeat at Liverpool.
He was also understood to have been embroiled in a row with Shearer in the dressing room.
But Barton, who has been linked with Blackburn, said: 'I don't know what is going to happen with the club or with the manager. I'm just looking forward to going back and I intend to stay and help Newcastle back into the Premier League.'
