Keith Andrews has extended his stay at Blackburn Rovers by agreeing a new four-year deal with the club. The Irish midfielder was taken to Ewood Park last summer by former boss Paul Ince. He enjoyed a productive debut season in the Premier League, scoring four goals in 35 appearances. A number of eye-catching displays brought him to the attention of Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni, and Andrews was awarded his international debut in November 2008. His continued progress has now been rewarded with an improved contract with Rovers and the 28-year-old admits he is delighted at how the last 12 months have played out. "I'm delighted to be here and to commit myself for another four years," Andrews told the club's official website. "The chairman (John Williams) was very fair with me; when I signed here from MK Dons he said that if I performed and got in the team and stayed in the team I would be rewarded and he's been true to his word." He added: "Last season went reasonably well from a personal point of view. "I was delighted to make so many appearances first and foremost. To have played so many games last year was probably more than what I expected. "I had things to prove to myself and I think I did that last year. At the highest level of football, and on the international stage as well. "I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far, I've a manager here now that has been thoroughly fair with me and I really want to stay here and crack on."
